Important Sharkfest Reminders

We’re excited to welcome all of you to Barrie for Sharkfest 2018! This post contains important info to ensure all teams you have the best weekend possible!

All teams must check-in at the registration desk at the arena of their first game. At check-in you will receive your team grab bags, tournament rules, and instructions for the A4A Player of Tournament awards that each team will give out.

At check-in, you will also be required to turn in your OWHA roster document at check-in if:

- you did not upload it to our website before the deadline

- there have been any changes to your roster since uploading it (i.e. players added or removed)

If you will have pick-up players who will participate with your team, you must turn in a completed and signed Pick-Up Player Consent Form at check-in.

The annual Barrie Santa Clause Parade will be held in the downtown area on Saturday afternoon/evening. Road closures will begin in the Lakeshore and Downtown area after 3:00pm, and will extend through the evening hours. While travel on Highway 400 should not be affected, travel through the down area will be difficult – please plan ahead.

If our schedule runs ahead at any arena, we will begin games up to 20 minutes early. Your team must be prepared to begin every game at least 20 minutes before the posted start time. If the game is ready to begin, and your team is not on the ice, you could forfeit the game. Don’t be late!

Game sheet labels will be provided for all preliminary games, for those teams that submitted their roster in advance.

Default game sheets will include your head coach, along with 1 trainer and 3 assistant coaches. If your team has a greater number of staff on the roster, the first trainer and first 3 assistant coaches alphabetically by last name will be used. If you wish to substitute other staff members, please bring your own game sheet labels.

All teams must bring enough game sheet labels for all playoff and consolation games. (3 sets of labels, for 3 games - as a minimum)

Where opponents have the same, or similar, coloured jerseys, the home team will be required to change their jerseys – unless the game includes a Barrie Sharks team, who will change jerseys whether they are the home team or visiting team for any game. Alternate jerseys are available for use by any team – please discuss arrangements at the arena registration desk before your game.

You can find Tournament rules and our Tie Breaker charts in the Documents section of our website:
